William Pay, rotating between Shanghai and Tokyo, was previously Chief Procurement Officer of the Global Strategic Sourcing Office in the Far East for Bayer HealthCare, where he was responsible for leading a cross category team managing a volatile supply chain worth half a billion euro of spending annually in Asia. He represented Bayer Procurement in advising on a few landmarked M&A and carve-out deals involving Covestro, MSD Consumer Health and Monsanto throughout the stages of due diligence to post merger integration.
Prior to joining Bayer in July 2012, he held various globally-based strategic sourcing and business development / sales marketing positions of increasing responsibility at Takeda, Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer on the buy side and for a Carlyle Portfolio Company called PPD and Quintiles Transnational (now IQVIA) on the supply side operating out of Singapore, US, Europe and China for the past 25 years.
Also in China, William also served as the sub chair for RX-360 (www.rx-360.org) Asia Working Group responsible for membership, promotion and engagement with regional regulators and media in Asia. He currently sits on AmCham Shanghai Committee on Procurement and Supply Chain and American Chamber of Commerce in Japan on Healthcare.
Mr. Pay was both educated in China and the U.S. and speaks, reads and writes in both English and Mandarin Chinese at native-grade.
